Food that Your Kids Should Avoid

Sometimes, it can  be really hard to control what your child eats, and that is mainly because we are always trying to give them something tasty, and that we know they will certainly enjoy. We are trying to meet their every demand, and truth be told, they can be quite persistent, but are you giving them all the nutrients that they need in order to grow up healthy and happy? Are you trying to force them to follow your diet, which is a mistake many parents make? Are your children eating too much fast food because you simply do not have the time for proper cooking? If your answers are mostly positive then you, and your kid’s health are in serious danger.

Junk food

Fast food is a quick, easy, and usually a very cheap solution, but it is probably the farthest thing from what your child really needs. It is devoid of any minerals, vitamins and fibers in general, meaning that this kind of food will not provide the body with the necessary nutrients needed for proper growth, and the amount of sugar, fats and salt used in preparation will certainly cause obesity if consumed frequently. Any food that is high on fat, not only junk food, is one of the main reasons for diseases such as diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases. Healthy solutions can only be made at home, where you can oversee the whole process of preparation, and where you can adjust the ingredients to suit your children’s individual needs. Use a lot of vegetables, meat, especially poultry, and dairy products, and avoid processed food with added chemicals.

Fizzy drinks

Soda drinks are also extremely popular, probably because they taste great, we drink them all the time, and we allow our children to do that as well, and they are probably one of the worst things your child should consume. Almost all of them contain ridiculous amounts of sugar, and that is called empty calories. It is a term that describes calories which are derived from foods and drink that do not have any nutritional value. The best solution is to teach your children that milk is probably the best drink that is both tasty and healthy. An additional lesson should be that nothing can sate your thirst like water can, and that any soda pop will only make you drink more and more. A healthier solution would be to squeeze and make your own juice, as that way, you will be sure that there are no added sugars.


Too much candy, like too much of anything else in your life, can have a negative influence on your health. Once again, it is because it has large amounts of sugar and saturated fats, which can increase cholesterol levels in the bloodstream and cause many coronary problems, even in young ones. Your teeth are also the first ones to suffer from too much sugar, as the bacteria that live in the mouth feed on it, and turn it into acids which gnaw on the surface of your teeth, which is actually tooth decay. If nothing else, sugar will certainly lead to an increase in body weight, which can even turn into obesity, without providing the body with anything useful. All of this does not mean that you should completely remove candies from your child’s diet – you should only limit their daily intake. Do not be fooled by the products that are advertised as healthy, and always look on the cardbox to see how much carbohydrates (sugars) does it contain.

Now, you clearly see how difficult, yet important this task is. The health of your children is at stake, so you will have to know what and when your children are eating, but don’t fool yourself – even if you make something at home, it doesn’t have to mean that it’s healthy. Make sure to create a balanced diet that will contain everything a child needs. Ask a pediatrician or a nutritionist about some additional tips and guides, and they can even give you some recipes that you can use. Obesity is becoming a real problem among children, especially in developed countries, and no one else can put a stop to it but you.
